For lighting designers & crew
Design with photosensitivity in mind.
Bring an understanding of photosensitivity into your practice, and make the effects in your show easier for audiences to understand.
Start with the lighting guide
Dr. Arnold Wilkins and Donald Holder’s guide explores photophobia, photosensitive epilepsy, flicker, patterns, color, and how an effect relates to the audience’s field of view.
Describe what happens on stage
Specific descriptions are more useful than a generic strobe warning. Record the production, the cue’s act, scene and approximate start, and the effect’s duration, source, color, direction, pattern and frequency.
Share, check, and update
Use the contributor portal, or the original spreadsheet. Mark estimates, leave unknowns clearly identified, and tell us when lighting or staging changes.
Help shape the work
FlashCue welcomes input from lighting designers, researchers, educators, access professionals, and people with lived experience.
Your cue data, in front of the people who need it.
Set up a contributor account to add your production’s flashing light information and help test the contributor tools.
